Trump, wife pay $1.8 million to settle suit over jacobs jeweler

New York, NY (AP) President Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, has paid $1 million to a California man who was suing the Trump Organization over his wrongful death, the Trump family announced Friday.

The suit filed by Trump’s former jeweler, Peter Jackson, was brought in federal court in Santa Monica by Jackson’s son, Christopher Jackson, who said he was “devastated” by Trump and his family’s behavior.

He said the company was negligent in not taking care of him when he died of a heart attack in 2001.

The suit said Jackson’s death was caused by the company’s failure to pay for his medical expenses and lost wages.

Trump has been criticized for the treatment of his family members, including his daughter Ivanka, who recently announced plans to move out of the White House and return to her Manhattan penthouse apartment.

He also has drawn criticism for his treatment of the widow of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who was killed in Iraq in 2014.
