A Melbourne jeweller who was stabbed to death on Friday was killed in a botched robbery, police said Saturday.
The 41-year-old man was found in his car parked in the street about 4 p.m. at Malani Jewelers in the 1300 block of South Avenue in Melbourne’s south-east, police spokeswoman Lisa Smith said.
“He was pronounced dead at the scene,” Smith said in a statement.
Malani owner Ali Alizadeh, who was known as Ali, was an entrepreneur and founder of a jewellery company.
He worked for several years at Malania Jewelers before it was taken over by another company in March 2018, Smith said, adding he was also the founder of the Malania Food Bank.
He was a friend of two brothers who were friends of the deceased, she said.ABC News’ Matthew Johnson and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
