Kothari shop owner to be jailed for 15 years for selling jewellery that was fake

The owner of a jewellery shop in Kerala’s Kothar district has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for selling fake jewellery.

Krishna Mohan, owner of the Kotharis Jewelry shop, was found guilty by a court in Kotharo on Thursday.

The court sentenced him to 15 months in jail and fined him Rs. 1.4 lakh each.

The jeweller pleaded guilty to selling fake jewelry at the shop in August this year.

He had been arrested after a complaint was lodged against him in August last year by a man who had seen the jewellery at the Kutharpura shop.

The accused had also been accused of offering fake jewelry to buyers.

Mohan has also been named as an accused in a case filed by the Kerala Police in October last year.
